I ate a couple of small slices of pizza with the kids tonight and moved on with my life. After catching myself getting uncomfortable about two slices of bread yesterday, that felt like progress worth recording.
Carter and Piper came over for dinner. Lauren cooked chicken, and we made pizzas in the pizza oven on the deck. I ate my chicken and had some pizza with them. I was happy they were here. I didn't want a meal with my kids to become a test I could pass only by refusing part of it.
We played cards too. When I describe the evening on Monday's show, I remember getting a little anxious as eight o'clock came around because I was thinking about bedtime. But the kids were there, and I was enjoying them. I adjusted. We finished our time together, and I was still in bed around nine. Protecting the routine and enjoying the people I love didn't have to become a fight with myself.
The morning had felt good from the start. Seven hours and thirty-six minutes of sleep, with a score of 84, after getting into bed at 9:10. There had been interruptions, but I had finally got substantially more of the sleep I'd been wanting. At 6:45, my words were content, grateful, confident, happy, peaceful, calm, and joyful. When I was asked how I felt after yesterday's training, the answer was simple: fucking great.
I weighed 172 pounds, with a body-fat reading of 21.7 percent. I liked what I saw in the mirror and felt comfortable in my body. I wasn't going to treat the whole change since yesterday as suddenly lost fat. It was another reading to keep alongside the work and the way I felt.
After yesterday's big ride and chest session, I chose a different kind of day. I walked, did yoga, and walked again. One of the best parts was yoga with Lauren. I love moving beside her. I love the connection, and watching her move makes me ridiculously attracted to her. Those feelings belong in this story as much as a training number does.
Later in the afternoon, she asked me to go for a walk. I had work to do, but I also knew I would be in bed earlier than she would tonight. I could spend that time with her now rather than keep working and then miss it later. So we went. It was a good walk, and I was glad to be beside my wife.
Food was simple through the day: a forty-eight-gram shake and small servings of deli chicken breast. Dinner included chicken thighs. Before the extra food at dinner, the estimate was around 159 to 166 grams of protein. Then there was the pizza. Tomorrow's scale might move or it might not. I wasn't interested in letting that possibility take over the evening with Carter and Piper.
I deliberately took the day off Glow between cycles, with a fresh cycle planned for tomorrow. I recorded it as a decision rather than a forgotten part of the routine. I want to understand why I'm doing things, including the days I choose not to do them.
There was work today too, and I noticed how much I was getting done without feeling rushed. At one point, it was already two o'clock and I had accomplished a lot. I felt clear about the model I was building and how the pieces fit together. Work belongs in this journal when it affects how I feel, and today that clarity was part of the day feeling more spacious.
I know the other version: thinking about ten things, feeling behind, moving faster because I don't know what else to do with the pressure. Today, I felt that I knew what to do next. I worked, ate, moved, and stopped without constantly arguing with myself about each decision. The confidence was in how I was moving through the day, not in a guarantee that every business idea would work.
I kept paying attention to cannabis too. Enjoying the habit doesn't remove the questions I started writing down last night. I want this next part of the record to help me see those choices clearly, along with the food, rest, work, and time with Lauren.
Yesterday, I wrote about direction. Today gave it an ordinary shape. Yoga with my wife. Work I understood. An afternoon walk when I could have stayed at the computer. Carter and Piper at dinner. Cards. Some pizza without a whole argument in my head afterward.
I'm showered and in bed now. Tomorrow is another training day, and I'll see how I feel when I wake up. Tonight, I'm content, happy, grateful, and confident. I enjoyed being here today. I want to keep learning how to do that.
