DAY FIVE JULY 7, 2026
Tuesday. Yesterday I sent Jon a message because I was hungry. I could feel it in my stomach, half an hour before I was supposed to eat. This morning, before we bring Stephanie onto the show, I bring it up again. I’m trying to explain it using the language Jon has been teaching me, and I stop to ask whether I’m even explaining it properly.
I can tell you what I felt. Explaining what it means is another matter. In these first few days, I’m starting to feel the food noise quieten, the cravings ease. Is that real? Is it placebo? I’ve never experienced this before. I’m committing to sleep and eating good, whole, single-ingredient foods, too. There’s a lot for me to learn, and I’m struggling to put the experience into words.
One thing I can explain clearly is what I want. I still want to eat. I want to be strong. I want muscle. I don’t want to wither away to nothing, and I say that to Jon. I’m interested in what these tools might do, but the food, sleep and habits underneath them need to make sense. I’m trying to learn how to live and eat for the next forty or fifty years. I can’t not eat all day, or eat shitty food all day, and expect to age strong. I’ve spent years with my own patterns around food. Now I’m trying to learn how to eat again.
I’m having some fun with Jon on the show, too. I tell Jon I looked in the mirror and thought I had a glow. My face looks young. Maybe it’s the stack. Maybe it’s all the other life-expectancy work I’ve been enjoying. I’m joking around with him, and I make that clear. I do feel good.
When Stephanie joins us, she understands what I’m trying to describe. The conversation brings us back to awareness and intention. I ask about feeling: how do you pay attention to what your body is telling you when a number doesn’t explain the whole experience?
It’s leg day, and I’m all in. I get under the squat rack and get after it, doing heavy compound movements. It’s also a reminder that I’m not thirty or thirty-five anymore. That was a fun leg day.
Yesterday I noticed hunger. Today I bring the question into the room. I’m five days in. I’m still learning how to explain it.
Age Strong.
